What to expect
You know the world of operational technology is all about managing and running physical processes, from machinery to vehicles.
You also know that today's OT is shaped by information technology (IT), as it processes and manages data to more intelligently run and manage operational technology.
Our Berlin field trip is all about the increasing added value of IT to OT.

Three themes will be treated:
- Connected Operations, with machines, floors and vehicles connected to IT networks.
- Operational Intelligence, with data analytics uses such as remote monitoring, predictive maintenance & digital twins.
- OT security, as cybersecurity plays a pivotal role in today's world of OT. What can quantum computing do?
Highlight 1:
Rohrdamm 88, Berlin.
Home of the Werner-von-Siemens Centre.
At the Werner-von-Siemens Centre you can immerse yourself in the past, present, and future of operational technology. It's a place where the legacy of Werner von Siemens, a pioneer in electrical engineering, is brought to life.
Here, T-Systems, Siemens, the Technische Universität Berlin, the Fraunhofer Institute and various start-ups are running their own R&D areas. As a delegation we will look at emerging types of operational tech, such as autonomous mobile robots, computer vision, predictive maintenance and virtual reality.
Highlight 2:
Winterfeldtstraße 21.
Home of T-Labs and hubraum.

T-Labs is our R&D hub, that focuses on translating new tech trends into our innovation portfolio. Its research areas are Network Security, Digital Twins, Spatial Computing, Quantum Computing, Future Networks and AI.
hubraum is our incubator, that connects startups with leading enterprises. It closely collaborates with T-Labs.
At Winterfeldtstraße 21, our delegation will be served with demos and presentations that touch upon how digital twins, spatial computing, network security and quantum computing are shaping operational technology.
Highlight 3: you are joined by startups
During your field trip, you will be accompanied by startup founders who move the frontiers of operational technology. All participants travelling from The Netherlands will enjoy a 5-hour train journey in private first class cabins, during which the founders share the stories of their startups. They'll also join our delegation during our on-site visits in Berlin, including our dinner in Berlin city's center on the evening of February 7th.
Below's startups were part of our previous field trip editions:

Costs
T-Systems Nederland B.V. will fund the guided tour, workshop, dinner, and lunch on both days. Therefore, the field trip is for free for delegates who join our program from Berlin itself.
For all delegates being part of our pre-reserved train journey and hotel stay in Berlin, the costs are € 250 per person. T-Systems Nederland B.V. has booked the train journey and hotel rooms in advance. It will send the delegate an invoice with these costs after registration for our field trip.
"It was very inspiring to see how T-Systems uses various technologies, such as 5G, Edge computing and AI, to show practical examples of smart manufacturing. The exchange with startups and sector experts has lead to new business insights."
Koert van de Pest | Supply Chain & Operations Director at Perfetti Van Melle Benelux
"Great to become inspired on what OT automation can already deliver today! Multiple technologies being demonstrated in real life setups."
